Cotswold Sheep

If you are looking for ACRA Cotswold Sheep, please give Beth a call at 715-829-5384.

Currently we have, yearling rams and proven rams available.

Yearling ewes who will be ready to be bred this coming fall.

We have a couple of ewes who would be perfect for a fiber/spinning farm.

Lambs from this year will be available after they self wean from their mama’s. This is typically early August. I maybe biased but we have 20 gorgeous Cotswold lambs this year. Cotswolds should only be bred after they are a year old.

Priory Farms is owned by Beth and her husband Slavko who raise Cotswold sheep, a heritage breed of sheep. This breed is currently listed as Critical by the Livestock Conservancy. That means there are under 2000 in the entire world! In the US, there are probably around 900 or less. It is our passion to save this beautiful breed.

Cotswolds are known as the gentle giants. The rams (boy sheep) grow to around 300 lbs and the ewes (girls) can weigh around 200 lbs. They are a long wool sheep breed growing an inch of wool a month. Their beautiful locks are a favorite for hand spinners and take dyes beautifully. To learn more about Cotswold sheep, check out the American Cotswold Record Association (ACRA) website at www.cotswoldacra.com.

The sheep at Priory Farms are grass fed by rotationally grazing on pasture throughout the summer and fall. Priory Farms utilizes bale grazing to help improve the pastures throughout the fall and into spring. April lambing brings many cute new cotswolds. Priory Farms sells breeding stock, fleeces for hand spinning, and sometimes yarn or roving. Periodically, Priory Farms has Cotswold lambs that head to the butcher.

Please contact us if you are interested in any of the above!
